Beauty and the Geek: Ding Dong, The Witch Is Gone

Boy, this was an uncomfortable episode of Beauty and the Geek. The beauties learned that there’s more to talent than being pretty, and we learned that some people never know when to shut up. And although it’s only the second week, we were thrilled to see what may have been the most deserved elimination in the history of the show. Even CeCe was never this bad!

The talent show just made us cringe – first off, 10 minutes is a long, long time for anyone to be on stage. And that 10 minutes can seem like eternity when you’ve got a bunch of self-confessed talent-free beauties who have no clue what they’re doing. The “sexy” dance started off mildly amusing, then got boring, then got downright tortuous. In the end, the beauties were booed off the stage.

The geeks, however, kicked butt – each one of them got a moment in the spotlight, and everyone looked like they were having a great time. We loved the way Matt mocked himself with the long. Long poetry scroll, and were amazed at Jason’s completely ripped physique. Mike told us about that in the interview yesterday, but we didn’t believe him. Wow! And Tommy’s standup just confirms that he’s the least geeky geek we’ve ever seen on the show.

When the beauties learned they’d lost and they’d be up for elimination, all hell broke loose.

This is the problem we have with the format: Basically, you’ve got a bunch of self-obsessed girls who are used to being the center of attention, and there’s nothing to stop them from going crazy. What are any of these women going to learn?

One thing they don’t need to learn is how to bend a geek to your will. Hot tub + bikini + a little physical contact = slave for life. However, we couldn’t get over the sheer gall of Amber calling out Leticia for acting slutty when she spent much of the episode crawling all over a clearly freaked out Tommy. She even announced to the girls that she was doing it to stay out of elimination!

Fortunately, that strategy didn’t work – and did anyone else find the geeks' elimination parliament, where they followed Robert’s Rules of Order and passed motions on who to send for elimination, completely adorable? Even better? The last word. “Motion to say we are all officially screwed.”

Amber proved just how ill-suited she was to the game when she was called for elimination. It’s because I have a strong personality! These other girls are threatened! I’m too cool for everyone here! Yes, Amber – the fact that you’re talking this way is the whole reason you’re up for elimination.

And in the end, Amber was the last woman standing at elimination. Thank god! (We loved how she tried to blame the buzzer, not her own reflexes.) Good riddance, Amber – we hope we don’t see you again.

I missed the first episode

I still think Leticia should get out. Amber was nice at the beginning of episode 1, she refused to plot against the guys.

Leticia is there for the money. She said it right away.

This was just such an intense episode. Tommy was a great friend of mine in college and a truly gentle human being. The guy doesn't even swear...ever! This is the same person who dressed up like a groundhog on groundhog's day. There was nothing better than when Joe told Amber she should volunteer herself out of the house. It's just too bad Tommy is such a trusting individual; it's a good thing he bounced back.
